From the age of Winamp and Milkdrop, i really liked seeing visual effects, while listening to music. It seems so, that Milkdrop was something of the past and even if there are some projects that do creates visual fxs, there are not so well known. Perhaps CAVA is more well known than ProjectMSDL.
Anyway... i really like CAVA, but i find it very limited, although it has very nice bar graphs. So i build CliDrop. As always in Python3 and runs in any terminal emulator, even in bare terminals like the TTY. It has several visual FXs, can change foreground/background colors, also use a "psychedelic" mode, which changes colors fast. The great thing about it, is that is lightweight and can use several instances of it, for example with tmux to create even more appealing visuals.
